Holiday in Kefalonia – Day 3 -Workout by the beach and Greek inspired mealsย ย

It’s been only the third day in the island but it feels I have been here much longer. Times slows down in Kefalonia.

While getting ready for my tour of the island tomorrow, I thought to treat myself with another morning by the beach and some meals I prepared with local and fresh ingredients.

First, a few shots of what I woke up to this morning.

Workout by the beach

I would recommend this short workout that I found on the Internet and that I changed slightly if you don’t have much time and still want to keep in shape on holiday. It also works well if you don’t want too feel too bad about yourself, especially after having devoured all those cakes and chocolates that your flat owner tempted you with the day before…(errrr…who might tat be? ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Warm up

  • 15 mins swim

2 mins rest and then the following in superset

  • 20 push ups
  • 20 squats
  • 20 lateral lunges
  • 30 sec side plank (both sides)
  • 30 sec plank

2 mins rest and then the following in superset:

  • 20 close grip pushups
  • 20 squats
  • 40 sit-ups
  • 10 lunges (each leg)
  • 20 superman
  • 20 toe tip raisers
  • 40 foot kicks
  • 20 single leg hip thrusts

…and that hurts.

Greek Yogurt Pot

I love making this when I am home. It’s quick, easy and tasty, and when will I have another chance to make one using authentic Greek yogurt? ๐Ÿ™‚

All you use are the following:

  • 2 or 3 spoons of Jam 
  • 5 spoons of Greek yogurt
  • 2 or 3 spoons of muesly
  • (Optional) two pieces of extra dark chocolate (min 85%), broken into smaller pieces

All you nees to do is to use a cup for dessert and lay down the jam to form the first layer. Then lay down the yogurt layer and top up everything with the muesli. Simple isn’it?

The example below is rather large, but I can’t help with it. When it’s food time I turn into an animal. ๐Ÿ™‚

Greek Salad

I also made a traditional Greek salad using local ingredients (those kalamata olives and that feta cheese, OMG!!). I won’t share the recipe here as it is widely known and the Internet is full of instructions in this regard, but I am happy to share the final result. I tell you what, I am gonna have another one soon.
